The Programme
The Primary 6 writing programme focuses on the intensive revision of the writing syllabus and preparation for the PSLE writing exam. Your child will also learn writing skills which prepares him for English at the secondary school level.
Learning Outcomes
Content and Writing Skills
As according to the latest PSLE writing exam requirements, your child will learn :
- Title emphasis – Learn which parts of the story to emphasize as according to the title.
- Picture focus – Learn the pivotal role that the chosen picture should play in the story
- Go beyond typical storylines – Learn to use news resources for wide-ranging content ideas and go beyond the norm in story content.
- Avoid common pitfalls – Learn marker expectations for specific topics as well as the standard expectations for all topics
- Conquer mundane topics – Learn to use writing skills such as dialogue-driven focal scenes for reader engagement
- Essential writing skills – Learn the required writing skills to fully expand a storyline with sequential and appropriate details.
Language Learning
Your child will learn :
- To replace overused words with an extensive range of vocabulary words
- To reinforce the learning through weekly vocabulary and sentence starters quizzes
- To independently apply a wide range of vocabulary words in his writing
- To use an increased range of sentence starters to vary sentence structures

18 to 20 compositions are written over the 3 terms
